Frequently Asked Questions

How does workplace massage work?

After you contact me, I will get back to you to answer any questions you need answered, including the cost per hour or per massage and what type I recommend for your work environment. I will need: a primary and secondary contact for the workplace, a small office or conference room or a covered area outdoors, a small table for supplies.

Scheduling is up to the employer and showing up to the scheduled times and location is up to the employee. Payment is expected whether all, some, or none of the clients show to their time slot. Massages start and end on time with 5 minute breaks between for sanitizing and a quick intake.

The therapist will bring all supplies needed for the massages including intake forms. Tips are appreciated and encouraged (there will be QR codes displayed) but not required. All massages are clothed, please read down this FAQ page for more details and/or reach out with any other questions!

What should I expect during my first visit?

Expect a brief consultation where the therapist will ask about your intake paperwork, any specific areas of concern, and your goals for the session. You'll also discuss what type of massage might be best for you.

How should I prepare for my massage?

Shower before your session and wear comfortable clothing. It’s best to arrive hydrated and avoid eating a heavy meal shortly before your appointment. Note that you will likely have oil or lotion on your skin after your session.

What should I wear during the massage?

In a typical massage, you’ll undress to your comfort level, typically under a sheet. Some people wear underwear, some people wear shorts, and some people go nude. It’s up to you! Your therapist will only uncover the area being worked on at any given time.
For a corporate chair/table massage, wear comfortable clothing you do not mind getting oil on. Nothing too loose or too tight, and nothing too rough (think wool) or delicate (like silk).

Are there any medical conditions that might contraindicate massage?

Yes, certain conditions like severe cardiovascular issues, infections, or recent surgeries might affect your ability to receive massage therapy. Always inform your therapist about any medical conditions or medications you're taking.

How long will the session last?

Sessions commonly last between 60 and 90 minutes, though shorter or longer appointments can be arranged depending on your needs and the therapist’s availability. If you are late, the session time will not be extended and will end on time.
For corporate chair/table massages, they typically last between 10-20 minute depending on what is contracted by the employer. Table massages are typically longer.

What type of massage is best for me?

It depends on your goals. For relaxation, a Swedish massage might be ideal. For muscle tension, consider a deep tissue or sports massage.

Can I request a specific pressure level?

Absolutely. Let your therapist know if you prefer a light, medium, or firm pressure. Communication is key to ensuring a comfortable experience.

How often should I get a massage?

This depends on your personal needs and goals. Some people benefit from weekly sessions, while others might find monthly or occasional massages sufficient.

What if I experience discomfort during the massage?

Communicate with your therapist right away. They can adjust the pressure or technique to ensure you’re comfortable.

Do I need to tip the therapist?

Tipping practices can vary, but it’s generally appreciated. A typical tip is around 15-20% of the session cost, similar to other service industries.

What if I have special requests or needs during the session?

Feel free to share any preferences or requests with your therapist before the session begins. They are there to tailor the experience to your needs.

What are the benefits of regular massage therapy?

Regular massage can improve circulation, reduce stress, alleviate muscle tension, enhance flexibility, and contribute to overall well-being.

What if I have allergies or sensitivities?

Let your therapist know if you have any allergies or sensitivities, especially to lotions or oils, so they can use appropriate products.

How can I get the most out of my massage?

Communicate openly with your therapist about your needs, relax during the session, and follow any aftercare advice they may provide.

Where is Noble Massage and Bodywork located?

I travel central/northern Indiana for my corporate and mobile massage services. You can also find me at Amethyst Heart Wellness Spa as well as Calm Waters Float Therapy Center, both in Lafayette, Indiana.

I’m sick, what do I do?

Being sick is no fun, and we don’t want to get sick! Please try to cancel your appointment as soon as you feel ill, preferably at least 24 hours before your appointment. Cancellation fee may not be charged but is up to the therapist’s discretion.

I want to book table/chair massage services for my office/workplace, how do I do that?
